Former Pakistan pacer, Shoaib Akhtar, who was known for his pace and intimidating presence on the field, retired after the 2011 World Cup due to chronic knee issues. But a viral video has been making rounds, with fans comparing Imran Muhammad to the former speedster.
In a viral video from the Oman D10 League match between IAS Invincibles and Yallah Shabab Giants, Muhammad, has since become an internet sensation after having a resemblance to Akhtar, both in appearance and bowling action.

Shoaib Akhtar holds the record of bowling the fastest delivery
The 30-year-old cricketer hailing from the Dera Ismail Khan district in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, left his village at 18 to pursue his dreams. Now residing in Muscat, Oman, Imran balances his passion for cricket with a day job installing CCTV cameras.
Meanwhile, the ‘Rawalpindi Express’ had an illustrious career, which began in 1997, terrorizing batters with his express pace and lethal yorkers. He picked 178 wickets in 46 Tests, with his final Test appearance coming against India in Bangalore in 2007. In ODIs, Akhtar claimed 247 wickets, while also picking up 19 wickets in 15 T20I matches. He still holds the record of bowling bowling the fastest bowl. The historic feat came in the 2003 World Cup where he cloaked a delivery at 161.3 kmph against England’s left-handed batter Nick Knight.
Since hanging up his boots, Shoaib Akhtar has successfully transitioned into a role as a commentator and analyst, sharing his expertise and insights on his popular YouTube channel. He also is part of many business ventures back in Pakistan and Dubai.
