During the 19th match of the ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2024), at the Queen’s Park Oval, in Trinidad, Trinbago Knight Riders’ (TKR) opener Shaqkere Parris registered his name into history books. The right-handed batter hit one of the biggest sixes of the tournament as it scaled a distance of 124 meters against Guyana Amazon Warriors.

Guyana’s Gudakesh Motie in his fifth delivery of the third over, delivered a full-length ball, and the 21-year-old Parris took the opportunity with both hands. With a powerful swing across the line, he connected with the ball perfectly, sending it soaring over the deep mid-wicket boundary. The ball didn’t just clear the ropes, it flew onto the stadium roof.

Parris’s innings ended with a run-a-ball 29, including two boundaries and two sixes. The young opener’s performances set the tone for his team’s brilliant chase. Knight Riders’ pursuit of the Amazon Warriors’ target of 149 wasn’t without its challenges. Key players like Sunil Narine, Nicholas Pooran, and Kieron Pollard fell without significant contributions, leaving Knight Riders in a tricky situation of 89/5 after 15 overs.
