Watch- Selfie moment gone awry! Babar Azam shocking behaviour with a fan (Source: X/Twitter )
Former Pakistan captain, Babar Azam has ignited yet another controversy after pushing a fan who wished for a selfie. Babar is playing for Stallions in Pakistan Champions One Day Cup 2024. After the practice session, the right-handed batter obliged the fans who were seeking a selfie.
One of the fans, went as far as to put an arm across the cricketer’s shoulder which did not go well. He then pushed the hand away.
For the unversed, Babar was renamed as the white-ball captain ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024. But the team was ousted from the group stages of the tournament.
Subsequently, Pakistan lost the two-match Test series against Bangladesh at home by 2-0. They will next host England for the three-match T20I series in October. Babar had an option of getting back to his usual groove in Stallions’ first game of the Champions One Day Cup. But the batter fell to uncapped spinner, Mohammad Asghar and scored just 20 runs.

Babar is in dire need of a good knock
Speaking of Babar, the batter has been out of form for quite a time now. In the test series against Bangladesh, his scoring pattern read, 0,22,11, and 31. The low scores string saw him miss out on a spot in the ICC Top 10 rankings for batters for the first time in 10 years. With Pakistan underperforming in white-ball cricket, the sword might hang on his leadership abilities.

“There has been no discussion on changing the captains as the PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi has left it up to the two coaches and selectors to decide on the captaincy. And Kirsten and Gillespie are very clear that Shan and Babar both need to be given a proper run before judging their leadership abilities,” a PCB source said as quoted by PTI.
