Musheer Khan reigned supreme on Day 1 of the opening game of the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024. India B was reduced to 94/7 at one stage and they needed something special to come out of the trouble and that is when Musheer took control of the situation and completed his century. He built an unbeaten 108-run partnership with Navdeep Saini as the Abhimanyu Easwaran-led side finished the day on 202/7.
Meanwhile, Sarfaraz Khan’s celebration after brother Musheer’s century was one of the biggest highlights of the day. Musheer picked up a single to complete his century and Sarfaraz was spotted giving him an energetic acknowledgment and ovation from the dugout. Musheer punched the air and raised his bat and helmet to celebrate the milestone.

The Shubman Gill-led side, on the other hand, started well with the ball but lost their rhythm in the third session of the day. Akash Deep, Khaleel Ahmed and Avesh Khan picked up two wickets each and seemed set to bundle India B early, however, they failed as Musheer’s efforts alongside Navdeep Saini helped India B make a stunning comeback.

Kuldeep Yadav bowled 14 overs in the match, giving away 50 runs without any wickets. The spinner would be disappointed with his efforts as he is fighting for a spot in the Indian team. Axar Patel, in the other Duleep Trophy game, has done remarkably well, which would only put pressure on Kuldeep, as they are in line for the third spinner role in the national team.
Musheer would hope to continue in the same manner on Day 2. Meanwhile, Saini has also been terrific alongside Musheer and their partnership already seems crucial in the game’s context. The eyes will be on India A pacers, who all are in the scheme of things as far as the India team is concerned.
