During the ongoing Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Australia’s debutant Sam Konstas grabbed headlines not only for his stellar performance with the bat earlier in the game but also for his on-field acts. The 19-year-old, who impressed fans on Day 1, was seen mimicking a “shoulder push” near the boundary, mocking Indian batter Virat Kohli.
Earlier in the match, Kohli had shouldered Konstas in the first innings. The offensive act qualified as a Level 1 offence and Kohli was found guilty of breaching Article 2.12 of the ICC Code of Conduct as he was handed a 20% fine on his match fees and a demerit point. Meanwhile, Konstas entertained the Melbourne crowd with his shoulder move after the 52nd over of India’s second innings.

After starting the series with a century in Perth, he has managed just 167 runs across four matches at an average of 27.83. Notably, chief selector Ajit Agarkar has hinted at a potential reshuffle in the Test squad if senior players fail to deliver.
India eventually failed to save the Test as they were dismissed for a paltry 155, losing the game by a whopping 184 runs. The fifth and final game of the series will be played from January 3 in Sydney, with Australia leading the series 2-1.
