Watch: Rohit Sharma comically forgets playing combination for Ireland clash, video goes viral

null

There have been numerous occasions where the captain of Team India, Rohit Sharma, has inadvertently left behind his accessories, possessions, crucial documents, equipment, and electronic devices at team hotels, dressing rooms, and other locations in the past. His teammates and friends have also mentioned the habit of the Men in Blue skipper to lose a track of his own stuff.

Once more, a humorous incident unfolded during India’s inaugural match of the T20 World Cup 2024 against Ireland at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. Following the toss with skipper of Ireland, Paul Stirling, tossing the coin and Rohit calling ‘heads’ and emerging victorious in winning it, he opted to field. When questioned about his decision, he cited the warm-up match against Bangladesh at the same venue, indicating that he and the management drew inspiration from their strategy and opted to emulate the approach of preferring to chase rather than set a target.

Nevertheless, the amusing incident unfolded when the broadcaster inquired about India’s team composition. In his characteristic manner, Rohit Sharma, while enumerating the names, mentioned Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Kuldeep Yadav as among those not included, but experienced difficulty in recalling the name of leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, citing it as ‘one more’.

“We’re going to bowl. Preparations have been alright. Have been managing ourselves in these new conditions. Has been challenging but we are all professionals. We played on a similar pitch and do know what to expect a little bit. I know it’s going to be slightly different from what we’re used to. But that’s what the sport is. Not sure about the conditions too much, so thought having a target in front of us would be good. Guys missing out are Kuldeep, Sanju, Jaiswal and one more,” Rohit said at the toss.
