27-year-old Rishabh Pant once again played his trademark shot on Day 2 of the second Test against Australia in Adelaide. India were in trouble when the keeper-batter came out to bat, but the cricketer didn’t compromise on his style and played an aggressive brand of cricket, which has now become his USP with the bat.

In the 19th over of India’s second innings, the southpaw played a ridiculous pull shot that went viral on social media. The Haridwar-born anticipated a short delivery from Boland, and he waited before shuffling across the crease and bending towards his right to hit it in the fine-led region. Pant fell on the ground while hitting the shot, as Ravi Shastri on the commentary was elated to see the cricketer not losing focus despite pressure.

India trail by 29 runs after Day 2

Indian batters once again had a tough time in the middle. Opener KL Rahul departed for seven runs and after that, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill looked in good touch. However, in the ninth over, Boland dismissed Jaiswal for 24 runs after the youngster nicked one to Alex Carey. There were expectations from Virat Kohli, especially given his records in Adelaide, but the veteran failed to impress, as he departed for 11 runs.

Gill meanwhile departed after scoring 28 runs. Star pacer Mitchell Starc cleaned him in the 18th over of the game. A late banana swing did the trick as Gill was outfoxed in the middle. Soon after that, India captain Rohit Sharma too made his way back to the pavilion. The captain made six runs off 15 balls. Pat Cummins hit the top of the off stump as Rohit was no one close to the length. With that, India were reduced to 105/5.

Pant and Nitish Kumar Reddy looked in good touch before the end of the day’s play. The youngsters will have a massive role to play on Day 3, or else the game can be over for India very quickly.
