Veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin played a huge role in India’s commanding 280-run victory over Bangladesh in the first Test at Chennai. Ashwin shared a special moment with his wife and two daughters, after the match.
The Chennai-born off-spinner had just completed a remarkable double, scoring a century and taking six wickets in the same Test match. It was his fourth such double, and second consecutive one at his home ground, Chepauk. Ashwin’s wife Prithi and their two daughters were eager to celebrate with the cricketer and spoke about his performance and connection to the Chennai ground.
“Every time I come here it feels special. I don’t know if there is some energy in this ground. Anything that gets me going. She kept complaining that I didn’t see her the first day. I didn’t. I don’t see them. For me it’s very difficult to look out for the family when you’re in the middle of a game. But I do make a conscious effort because the children are always asking me why you didn’t say hi,” he said in a video posted by BCCI.
The spinner’s family complained that the cricketer doesn’t watch out for them in the crowd. But Ashwin revealed that his focus is on the game but whenever his daughters are there he tries to wave back at them, whenever given an opportunity.
