Indian head coach Rahul Dravid was seen consoling star batter Virat Kohli after yet another disappointing performance in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. This incident occurred during the semi-final match between India and England, at the Providence Stadium in Guyana, on Thursday, June 27.
England, having won the toss, elected to field first, asking the Men in Blue to set the target. All eyes were on Kohli, whose recent form had been a subject of concern for fans and experts alike. In the semi-final, Kohli’s innings was brief but eventful.
After facing a series of dot balls, he smashed a classic no-look six. However, he was bowled by Reece Topley on the very next delivery, managing only nine runs from nine balls. Virat Kohli was visibly disappointed, and that’s when Rahul Dravid stepped in. The cameras captured a touching moment as Dravid consoled the 35-year-old after having a poor outing in an important clash.
Don’t be sad, King Virat Kohli. We will win! We want a roaring Kohli. We can’t see you like this. 😭😭#INDvsENG pic.twitter.com/a1zoso3wpr

Notably, Virat Kohli‘s struggles in the T20 World Cup have been alarming. Despite his stellar performance in the IPL 2024, where he clinched the Orange Cap with an impressive 741 runs from 15 innings, the tournament has seen him score a mere 75 runs from seven innings, including two ducks.

Despite an early setback with Kohli’s dismissal, India’s skipper Rohit Sharma displayed his typical aggressive form, smashing powerful shots against England’s bowling attack. The Indian team faced another blow when Rishabh Pant was dismissed, leaving them at 46 for 2 at the end of the powerplay. As rain intervened once again, play was halted with Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav at the crease. At this point, Sharma had scored 37 runs, Yadav 13, and India’s total stood at 65 for 2 after 8 overs.
