cake celebration with Pat ( Source :SRH )
Captain of the Australian side as well as the Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise, Pat Cummins, marked his 31st birthday on May 8, 2024. With SRH’s crucial match against the Lucknow Super Giants in the evening, the skipper celebrated the momentous occasion with his SRH teammates, who by the looks of it, smeared cake on their leader.
The official X handle of SRH posted a heartwarming picture featuring Cummins alongside his dad, Peter Cummins, dressed in contrasting black and white collared T-shirts respectively. In the snapshot, Cummins was seen taking a selfie with his father, both being all smiles, while the latter’s face was sporadically covered in brown cake.
The charismatic all-rounder had a nightmarish start to 2023, losing his mother, Maria Cummins, to cancer. He had even termed as that phase as his “hardest time” in his life. Transitioning to his professional endeavors, Cummins exhibited continual growth throughout the year.

Pat Cummins had a stellar 2023 as skipper of Australia
From retaining the Ashes against England at their backyard, becoming the No.1 Test bowler courtesy of registering 18 dismissals in nine innings (best bowling figures- 6/91), to being instrumental in winning the World Test Championship (WTC 2023) against India, Cummins attained new glories in a short span. Moreover, his alchemist run extended further as he led Australia and lifted the ODI World Cup against the same opponent. Besides, he also won the treasured ICC Cricketer of the Year award, Cummins has only grown from strength to strength with the progression of time.
A more than capable lower-order batter, he has scored 1,295 runs in 89 innings, playing a bunch of handy knocks, with exemplary shot-making and stability on display. In 119 innings while bowling, Cummins has 269 dismissals to his name, currently being the 10th-highest wicket-taker for the Aussies in the purest format of the game.
