Mitchell Starc dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal on the first ball of the Day-Night Test in Adelaide. The Indian opener shuffled across the off-stump premeditating an on-drive while Starc angled it over the wicket and a late swing got the better of Jaiswal. The youngster later changed his stance and tried to play a flick but failed to time it, resulting in him getting pinned on the front leg. Upon appeal, the umpire immediately raised his finger. Jaiswal then had a chat with his opening partner KL Rahul for a possible review but decided against it, which was eventually the right call.

The rivalry between Jaiswal and Starc started in the opening game in Perth, when the 22-year-old sledged the Australia international, saying that he was bowling slow. Starc didn’t respond to Jaiswal, but later revealed that he couldn’t hear the sledge. After that, they encountered for the first time in Adelaide and the pacer managed to send Jaiswal back to the pavilion in the first ball itself.

India meanwhile have a horrifying record in Adelaide. The last Test they played, the visitors were dismissed for 36 runs and the Australian media has been successful in reminding them about the same in the past week. Captain Rohit Sharma however wasn’t concerned about what happened in the past and hoped that the team will be producing a better performance in the second Test.

The visitors meanwhile made three changes to their playing XI. Rohit, who missed the first Test due to paternity leave, returned and confirmed that he will be batting in the middle order. Shubman Gill, who missed the Perth Test due to a finger injury, returned as well and Ravichandran Ashwin has been named too. The off-spinner replaced Washington Sundar in the playing XI.

The focus however will be on the batting unit. The bowlers have done a commendable job in the first Test and will be confident but the batters may not feel comfortable facing the Pink Ball that comes slightly quicker after hitting the deck. Batting during twilight is also not easy and that period often defines the game.
