Team India and New Zealand will exchange blows in the first Test of the series at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, situated in Bengaluru, starting on Wednesday, October 16. The teams are back in Bengaluru for a Test after 12 years. India wicket-keeper batter, KL Rahul is back in his hometown for the game and he has urged the Garden City crowd to grace the occasion with their presence.

Notably, Rahul last played an international game at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium during the World Cup 2023 game against Netherlands. The batter had entertained his home crowd with a scintillating 102 runs off just 64 balls. Now that the right-handed batter is back in the bay, he also reminisced about savouring meals from the revered canteen at the ground during his younger days.

“We invite everyone to join us for the Test match, which is starting from 16th. It’s been some time since we played international cricket in Chinnaswamy Stadium, so I’m sure all of you will be excited for this and you will come in big numbers and support your team. And I’ll see you all from 16th to 20th here in the Chinnaswamy,” said Rahul in Kannada in a video uploaded by BCCI.

“We spent a lot of time in the canteen and the clubhouse behind the ground, so yeah, I know. I haven’t been there in the last year or so, I don’t know if that place has changed now, but yeah, it used to be really, really delicious and our morning started really good with dosa and coffee,” the homeboy further added.

Meanwhile, Team India are coming off a comprehensive series win as beat the touring Bangladesh by 2-0 in the recently concluded Test series. With the World Test Championship (WTC) Final on the cards, the Indian side technically require just three wins in their remaining nine eight Tests. Before the WTC final, they have a crucial Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which is scheduled to commence on November 22, with the first Test in Perth.
