KL Rahul‘s pre-Border-Gavaskar Trophy preparation seems to be sinking in a downward spiral after he was dismissed for a cheap score yet again in the ongoing unofficial Test between Australia A and India A. He followed his four-ball stay in the first innings with a 44-ball ten runs in the second essay. However, it was how he was dismissed on the very first delivery of Corey Rocchiccioli’s introduction in India A’s second innings.

The delivery was fairly tossed up and pitching between the middle and leg stump. Rahul backed away towards the on-side to pad the ball away or expect it to grip so much that it would end up missing his pads entirely. However, the decision to not offer a shot eventually led to his downfall, as the ball ricocheted off his left pad to clip off the pole’s bail. Rocchiccioli and his side sprinted away ecstatically as Rahul ambled his way back to the shed.

“Well, I just don’t know what he was thinking here!” exclaimed one of the commentators. Indeed, only Rahul would seem to have a reason for the way he reacted to that sort of delivery.

India A entangled in web of adversity at Stumps on Day 2

With the triad of pacers doing a commendable job to dismiss Australia A for only 223, it was up to the batters who needed to get it right in the second innings. However, it was the same old story for the batters of India A who succumbed to the persistent channels of the Aussie bowlers.

Despite India A getting off to a much better start than they did in the first innings, they lost their way soon after. Nathan McAndrew and Beau Webster struck twice each to reduce the Indians to a score of 73/5 at the close of play.
