Commentary panel of cricket experts who often tour and work in the cricket series played in Australia, often end up having a light-hearted banter among themselves. In the same vein, recently, during the post-stumps discussion on Day 4 of the third Test in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT 2024-25), the expert commentary panel involving the former cricketers Brett Lee, Michael Vaughan, and Kerry O’Keeffe ended up in a banter, which broke out regarding the possible best team for The Ashes 2025.
Notably, during the post-show of the Brisbane Test, the former England Skipper, Michael Vaughan, took everyone by surprise, after he came up with his best combined Ashes 2025 playing XI while comparing the performances of both teams in the recent series. For the unversed, The Ashes is a competitive bilateral series played annually between England and Australia since 1882 onwards.
Meanwhile, after naming his team, Vaughan was seemingly happy with his playing XI, he got hilariously roasted by the former Australia player and the renowned commentator Kerry O’Keeffe aka ‘Skull’, regarding his bizarre selection and logic for the same. The Australian was surprised by the selection of Jacob Bethell and Harry Brook ahead of stalwarts like Steve Smith and Travis Head.
Kerry O’Keeffe made fun of Michael Vaughan by reminding him the fact that most players in the English side were not the native of the British nation. Moreover, he also trolled him for preferring Brook over Head by saying that while Brook failed against New Zeland in batting, Head went on to score big century against their neighbouring country.
“Jacob Bethell from Barbados at number three. So, I mean I saw a pin picture of Jacob Bethell, favourite player Viv Richards, person I’d most like to meet Bob Marley and he’s batting three for England what is going on?,” said O’Keeffe while speaking on Star Sports.
“Recent form Harry got 0 and 1 against the pie chuckers New Zealanders, Travis got 151, this is ridiculous selection,” O’ Keeffe further added.
Meanwhile, Harry Brook had a great series against New Zealand as he finished the leading run-getter for England with 350 runs at an average of 70.
