Watch: Kaleem Sana bags impressive hat-trick in Global T20

Canada’s star pacer, Kaleem Sana, recently grabbed every headline after he put in an exceptional performance in the ongoing Global T20 Canada 2024. The clash was between the Toronto Nationals and Montreal Tigers. Both sides locked horns at the CAA Centre, Brampton, on Monday, August 5. 

Batting first, Toronto Nationals witnessed a horrid performance in the first innings. Only one of the batters across the whole lineup managed to cross the 10-run mark. Jatinderpal Matharu scored 12 runs in 25 deliveries as the Nationals were bundled out for a score of 52 runs in the first innings. 

Montreal Tigers’ exceptional performance with the ball was credited to Pakistan-born Kaleem Sana. Taking four wickets in the first innings, Sana’s spell included a breathtaking hattrick as well.

The 30-year-old began his onslaught by dismissing Unmukt Chand, who got played on while pushing the ball towards the off-side. Furthermore, he followed it up by taking the wicket of Roston Chase, who was also dismissed after dragging the ball onto the stumps. 

Furthermore, Sana completed the hat trick on the first ball of the next over. Sana took the wicket of Pakistan’s experienced all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz, courtesy of Ayan Khan’s spectacular catch. 

Bowling three overs, Kaleem Sana ended his spell by conceding 13 runs and taking four brilliant wickets to his name. His performance was crucial in the Tigers limiting the Nationals to a score of 52 runs in the first innings. 

Tigers chase down target with little effort

Coming out to chase the target, Montreal Tigers opened the innings with Dilpreet Bajwa and Ashton Agar scoring 12 and five runs, respectively. Parveen Kumar scored nine runs, with Tim Seifert and Gerhard Erasmus staying unbeaten with scores of 15 and four runs, respectively. 

Losing three wickets in the process, Montreal Tigers chased down the target in 11.3 overs and won the game by seven wickets. With the win, the Tigers jumped up to first place in the standings, with four wins and one loss in six matches. The side has nine points to their name.
