Root’s repeated pull-outs annoy Rabada
Joe Root, England’s centurion from the last game, was struggling with focusing on the game during the highly anticipated clash, frequently stepping away from his stance due to issues with the sight screen. The situation intensified in the 14th over when Root pulled out twice in quick succession while facing Rabada.
The South African fast bowler, clearly bothered by the disturbance, conveyed his frustration to the umpire, arguing that Root’s actions were an obvious attempt to break his rhythm. The incident added an intense plot to an already enthralling contest.

England in trouble as South Africa dominate
England, after winning the toss and opting to bat, endured a terrible start, losing crucial wickets of Phil Salt and Jamie Smith in quick succession. Despite a stable start from Ben Duckett and Joe Root, both batters failed to stay, leaving their team in a shaky position.
South Africa’s determined bowling attack kept control, bowling England out for 179 in 38.2 overs.
For England, nobody reached the 50-run mark. Root was the highest scorer with 37 runs off 44 balls.
Marco Jansen and Wiaan Mulder finished with three wickets each, Keshav Maharaj with two and Rabada and Lungi Ngidi with one each.
It looks very difficult for England to defend the total on a good-looking pitch.
