WATCH: Jasprit Bumrah, Marnus Labuschagne engage in playful banter in Adelaid
Jasprit Bumrah is not often seen having a banter on the field with an opposition batter. But the first day of the pink-ball Test in Adelaide was different. After the visitors were bundled for 180 runs and needed some quick wickets early to put Australia under pressure, all eyes were on the Indian pacer in the second innings. Bumrah got some success as well as he picked up the wicket of Usman Khawaja.
However, after that, the Indian bowlers could not break the partnership formed by Marnus Labuschagne and opener Nathan McSweeney. Meanwhile, in the final session of the day, Bumrah was seen involved in a playful banter with Labuschagne.
In one of the deliveries, Bumrah bowled a full delivery close to Labuchagne, which the batter defended. The 31-year-old went on to collect the ball and indicated of throwing it to the stumps. Labuschagne, however, did not back out and asked Bumrah to have a go, but the pacer refrained from throwing the ball and returned to his mark with a smile on his face.

Later, the pacer came close to getting an edge from Labuschagne but the ball did not touch the bat. An animated Bumrah was seen jogging towards the batter with a smile. In response, Labuschagne smiled as well and was heard saying “good delivery”.

Speaking of the proceedings, Australia posted 86/1 after the end of the day’s play, trailing by 94 runs. They will be happy with the performance, especially after a poor outing in Perth. The hosts will be looking to take a lead in the first innings and put the Rohit Sharma-led side under pressure.
