Team India squared off against South Africa in the Final of the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Kensington Oval in Barbados, on June 29. India won the toss and opted to bat first. On the back of Virat Kohli’s fighting 76 and Axar Patel’s gritty 47 runs, India posted a defendable total of 176 on the board. While defending, Indian bowlers started exerting pressure as Jasprit Bumrah struck in his first over and dismissed Reeza Hendricks in his first over.
Bowling the third ball of the second over, Bumrah bowled a length ball which was moving away lately and Hendricks had no answer to that. He tried defending the ball and the leather sneaked in to dismantle his off stump. The beauty of the delivery was the angle created by Bumrah that looked fuller from the striker’s end, only to deflect lately, and the batter remained in the awkward position.
Here’s the video of Bumrah dismissing Hendricks:

Talking about Virat Kohli’s innings, the star batter looked in his usual touch as he built the innings with Axar Patel and Shivam Dube. The India opener struck three boundaries in the first over of the innings and resorted to a conventional approach after India lost three early wickets. He accelerated 18th over smashing Kagiso Rabada for a six and a boundary. Then he took on Marco Jansen scoring another boundary and a maximum before departing. Rohit had pre-empted a big innings from Kohli before the game.
