New Zealand (NZ) have been hosting England (ENG) in an exciting Test series, where the visitors have had the upper hand so far. After winning the first Test of the series, England are riding high in confidence and carried on in the second Test. Many players are getting a ‘dream come true’ chance to play along with their idols present in both teams. Recently, the legendary James Anderson who is in a coaching role with the English side after retiring from international cricket, has been garnering immense attention due to a video which went viral on social media.
Notably, during the second Test, some young players have started their careers, and have tried to show potential. One such player is England’s new batting sensation, Jacob Bethell. After missing out on a well-deserved century, the batter was back in the hut and resting, Anderson tried to lighten up the mood of his team by coming up with a “ghost scare” prank against the youngster. Interestingly, the legend almost pulled off the act successfully. In the same vein, a video of him scaring Bethell was posted by England Cricket on their social media handle.
“Playing in his second Test wasn’t the scariest thing Jacob Bethell had to face today” England Cricket captioned their post.
The clip, which was taken from inside the English dressing room from their ongoing Test against New Zealand, had Bethell getting pranked and as a result, producing quite a few chuckles from his teammates. The mastermind behind the amusing shenanigan was James Anderson, England’s current bowling consultant. Anderson, placing a wig of an eerie-looking granny on himself, made his way up to Bethell’s couch without intimating him.
Bethell only noticed Anderson’s presence after a few moments from the corner of his eyes and decided to turn his head fully to figure out who that particular person was who was eavesdropping on his conversation with a fellow teammate. It was only then that he sprung up from a reclined posture after he was visibly surprised by the frightening revelation.

England gain total control over second Test versus New Zealand on Day 2
Coming to the match, England are in a firm position with three more days left in the game. On the crease are Joe Root and Ben Stokes, who will resume their side’s second innings on the third day. They will be keen on notching up their tons during Day 3 and not missing out like Ben Duckett and Bethell, both of who were dismissed by Tim Southee for 92 and 96, respectively.
