Virat Kohli was seen erupting in passion while celebrating Ruturaj Gaikwad’s dismissal for a four-ball duck during Match 8 of the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday, March 28.

A well-directed short delivery by Josh Hazlewood was pulled by Gaikwad. However, the delivery seemed to have rushed on to the CSK skipper, who only managed to top-edge the ball to deep fine leg. Immediately after substitute fielder, Manoj Bhandage, took the catch, Kohli was seen exuding pure elation as he leaped on Hazlewood’s back in pure delight.

Interestingly, Gaikwad registered his first IPL duck in 17 innings at Chepauk. Notably, Gaikwad’s wicket was the second dismissal Hazlewood snagged in the over. Rahul Tripathi was hurried on the pull as well. However, the ball hit the opening batter’s willow at the upper extreme. The ball ended up lobbing off the splice of the bat to midwicket, where Phil Salt took a straightforward catch.

Earlier in the day, RCB ended up posting 196/7 on the board after their allotted quota of 20 overs. Skipper Rajat Patidar’s 32-ball 51 led the way. His dynamic innings comprised four fours and three sixes. Being put in to bat first, the visitors were off to a stunning start with Salt leading the way with his aggressive batting. Kohli never really looked settled on the crease.

The former RCB skipper was dismissed for 31 (30) by Noor Ahmad. Noor ended the innings with a three-wicket haul to his name. Ravindra Jadeja proved expensive, conceding 37 runs in three overs. Khaleel Ahmed was the most economical bowler for CSK. The left-arm pacer conceded only 28 runs in his four-over spell.
