[WATCH] IPL 2025: RCB star Virat Kohli arrives in Chennai ahead of CSK encounter

Mega popular cricketer Virat Kohli, who plays for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), has arrived in Chennai for their game against CSK at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in the city. The game will be hosted on Friday, March 28, and will feature the ‘Southern Derby’ take place, as Kohli and MS Dhoni will be gracing the same turf, a feat that happens only in IPL today.

The entire RCB squad reached in the Tamil Nadu capital on Monday, and the fans at the Chennai airport gave the side a warm reception. The franchise, which is among the most popular teams around the world, had some of them at the airport as well, and were seen chanting ‘Ee Saala Cup Namde‘ slogans for their favourite upon the team’s arrival. Speaking of Kohli, the ace batter made a thrilling start to the season during the tournament opener against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Saturday. KKR had posted a target of 175 for RCB at the Eden Gardens, and RCB had no discomfort in chasing down the target, courtesy of Kohli’s unbeaten half-century. At the end, Bengaluru won the game by seven wickets.

The CSK-RCB rivalry 

Coming back to the Southern Derby, there have been some great matches between the two teams in the IPL, filled with some last-over thrillers which none of the fans expected. These two have played 33 matches together since 2008 where 21 games have been won by CSK and 11 games have been one by RCB.

The last time the two sides faced off was in a battle of the playoffs where it was the Faf du Plessis-led side that emerged victorious and made sure they spoiled the party for CSK who could not manage to make it to the playoffs at the end of the 2024 IPL season.
