Star Australia batter Steve Smith hurt his finger during practice in the nets. Marnus Labuschagne’s throwdown hurt his right hand and the physio was immediately called. After a quick evaluation, Smith was advised to leave the practice. Cricket Australia hasn’t reported any serious injury to the former captain. Him leaving the nets can be only a precautionary measure.

Earlier in the day, Labuschagne suffered an injury scare as well. In a video shared by RevSportz, the 30-year-old was spotted getting hit and was sitting on the ground for a brief while. However, Labuschagne was not badly hurt as he soon got up and continued with his practice session.

Australia, meanwhile, are already under immense pressure after losing the first Test by 295 runs in Perth. Leading to the five-match series, the Pat Cummins-led side was optimistic about their chances, given that India suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat to New Zealand at home.

Meanwhile, both Smith and Labuschagne failed to make a mark in Perth as the entire batting unit was under pressure to bounce back after being bowled out for 104 runs in the first innings. Travis Head was the star performer in the second innings, scoring a quickfire 89. Unless the top order contributes, the hosts will find it difficult to win the series against India. Meanwhile, Josh Hazlewood will miss the second Test in Adelaide after he suffered a low-grade left-side injury. Australia have called up Sean Abbott and Brendan Doggett as potential replacements.
