RCB legend Virat Kohli talked about his early years in the IPL recently and how his progression went from a struggling youngster to one of the best batters in the tournament, ahead of the upcoming clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 7.
Virat Kohli is arguably one of the best batters in the IPL, who has scored the most runs in the tournament with 8101 runs to his name in the 255 games he has played so far at an average of 38.76 (before MI game). The 36-year-old has been a one-franchise player for the team in the last 18 years, from when the tournament started back in 2008.
Though the fans now know Virat as one of the legends of the club, his early years were not really the best. The three-time IPL finalist has revealed that he could not crack the fast-moving game in the first three years, and what roles he was playing in the team before getting established as a modern-day great.
“Playing in the IPL was something that I was not able to crack to a large extent for the first three seasons, I would say. So I was playing different roles for the first three years, from 2010 onwards, then I started performing a little better, my career in the IPL kind of grew in the first three years. After that, 2011 onwards, then started playing at number three regularly,” Virat spoke to Star Sports in an interview which will be released after the MI match.
