Team India defied all the odds and kept their nerves to end their 11-year drought to win an ICC World Cup as they beat South Africa in an absolute Humdinger. Notably, both the teams were coming into the summit clash as unbeaten teams but on Saturday, June 29, the Rohit Sharma-led side kept their winning run intact in Barbados by clinching a sensational seven-run win.

This triggered a barrage of emotions for all the Indian players, fans, cricket experts and also the leaders of India. In the same vein, the honourable Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, took to his social media to congratulate Team India on achieving remarkable glory. Speaking of the game, India skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat first against South Africa in Barbados. However, the decision initially seemed to have backfired after spinner Keshav Maharaj’s twin strikes left India reeling 23/2 inside two overs of the game. Notably, he picked the in-form Sharma and then Rishabh Pant was undone while playing a sweep shot due to extra bounce.

However, it was the man of the moment Virat Kohli who saved his best performance for the grand final. the star batter held one end to keep the scoreboard ticking and scored a magnanimous 76 runs off 59 balls to lead Team India’s fightback. Notably, during his knock he smashed two sixes and six fours, respectively. Along with him, Axar Patel stitched a crucial partnership to guide the Indian side to a competitive total of 176/7.

In reply, South Africa started cautiously but pacer Arshdeep Singh had other ideas and struck early to give the Men in Blue an apt start. But during the middle stage of the game, it was the talented Heinrich Klaasen who went berserk and started smashing the Indian bowlers for fun. So much so that he smacked Axar Patel for 22 runs to bring the equation down to 30  runs in as many balls. However, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya bowled the last three overs and dismissed Klaasen, and David Miller who were last hopes for the Rainbow Nation to hand India their second T20 World Cup title.
