Visiting side Team India are gearing up for the upcoming “Boxing Day” event and have already begun their practice at the renowned Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Ahead of the fourth Test, some of the top Indian batters including Virat Kohli were seen putting in the hard work in the nets.

The two-time World champion might not be in the best of form in the going Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT 2024-25) now but statistically, he has had an upper hand against one of their biggest rivals in the game in Australia. Notably, Kohli has scored over 2,000 runs and averages an impressive 46.12 against the mighty Aussies. As a result, not only in India, the Delhi-based batter is considered a youth icon but also away from home as well.

An example of this became evident in a video, which has been going viral in the social media domain. In the video, a father was visibly seen watching the Indian batters practicing in the nets at the MCG. While watching the practice session, the Australian man introduced Virat Kohli to his son, by pointing towards him while calling him the “best batter in the world.” Besides, he also asked his son to carefully watch Kohli’s batting as well.

Kohli averages over 50 in Melbourne

Now speaking of Virat Kohli, the Indian batting stalwart started the BGT 2024-25 Test series with a thrilling unbeaten century (100*) against Australia in Perth. However, since then he has failed to get going as his outside-the-off-stump conundrum continued. However, the batting maestro has done incredibly well in Melbourne, where the upcoming Test will be played.

At the MCG, Virat Kohli has featured in three matches so far, whereby, he scored two half-centuries and a century as well. During these games, he averaged a staggering 52.57. His most memorable knock of 169 runs came against Australia in 2014, where he was up against a dangerous pace attack that included the likes of Mitchell Johnson, Ryan Harris, and Josh Hazlewood, respectively. Hence, in the upcoming Test, Kohli will be keen to regain his batting mojo.
