Australian opener David Warner was dismissed for 12 runs on debut in the newly-launched T10 tournament, MAX60 Caribbean League. Warner bid farewell to international cricket after Australia’s exit from the T20 World Cup 2024. However, his cricket journey has taken a turn with his participation in the new T10 tournament set against the backdrop of the Cayman Islands, a self-governing British territory located between Jamaica and Mexico

The MAX60 Caribbean League, which kicked off on August 18, features a star-studded lineup including Warner, Alex Hales, Dwayne Bravo, and other cricketing heavyweights. This six-team competition is scheduled to take place over just eight days.

Warner’s inclusion in this tournament raised eyebrows, especially given his recent retirement from international cricket. Meanwhile, his debut in the tournament was not so impressive, as leading the Boca Raton Trailblazers, he was dismissed cheaply against the Miami Lions. The Australian opener fell victim to a sharp caught-and-bowled by Ben Manenti, an Australia-born spinner representing Italy with limited first-class experience.

David Warner was caught and bowled for 12 by Ben Manenti overnight.

David Warner is a huge signing: MAX60 Caribbean League CEO

Warner’s presence is a big boost for the newly-launched competition, which is initiated for viewers with limited attention spans. The CEO of MAX60 Caribbean League also opened up about the left-hand batters’ inclusion in the tournament.

“David Warner is a huge signing and association for this league. I mean, he has done all there is to do in T20 cricket, and we are blessed to have him endorse this league and display his talent for the people of the Cayman Islands and the world,” the league’s CEO said in a statement.
