Daryl Mitchell, who is known for his humble and kind demeanour, inadvertently broke a fan’s iPhone while practising at the HPCA Stadium, Dharamsala prior to the PBKS clash on Sunday, May 5. After noticing the accident, the New Zealand star gifted a pair of gloves to the youngster to make his day.

Mitchell was practising his pull shots on the sidelines with a short net placed nearby to prevent the balls from hurting the spectators. One fan was recording the net session on his iPhone. Unfortunately, one of Mitchell’s pull shots went over the safety net and hit the youngster. The impact, not only did damage to his phone but also injured him apparently.

Mitchell understood the seriousness of the situation and the misfortune of the fan. He went on to gift a pair of gloves to him to lighten up his day. The spectator posted the whole incident on social media and it instantly won the fans over. Cricket lovers took to social media to praise Daryl Mitchell for his kind gesture.

Later in the match, Mitchell went on to play an important 30-run knock off 19 balls, hitting two fours and a solitary six as Chennai posted 167/9 after being asked to bat first. Ravindra Jadeja top-scored with a 26-ball 43. In reply, Punjab could only manage 139/9 in their 20 overs. Jadeja showcased his all-round skills as he bagged three wickets for just 20 runs in his four overs and was fittingly adjudged Player of the Match.

CSK are currently placed at No. 3 on the points table, having won six and lost five out of their 11 matches. They will return to action on Friday, May 10 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad as they take on Gujarat Titans in a repeat of last year’s epic final. These two teams met earlier this season at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The hosts won the match convincingly by 63 runs.
