India won their third Champions Trophy title on Sunday, March 9, played in Dubai International stadium against New Zealand. The Men in Blue won the game in the 49th over when Ravindra Jadeja hit a four.

After the victory, India skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were seen celebrating the moment by playing dandiya with stumps on the field. Team India beat New Zealand by four wickets. India beat Bangladesh, Pakistan and New Zealand in their group and defeated Australia in the semis before again beating the Kiwis in the finals.

Against New Zealand, Rohit Sharma’s Men in Blue had to chase down a target of 252 runs.  Rohit Sharma’s men had gone unbeaten to clinch the T20 World Cup last year, and they have repeated the feat this year at the Champions Trophy.

In the ICC Champions Trophy final in Dubai, Rohit Sharma played a spectacular knock against New Zealand to get his first-ever half-century in an ICC event final.  Rohit struck bowlers hard from the first delivery of the final, when they were chasing 252 runs. He scored 76 in 83 balls, including three sixes and seven fours.  He used a strike rate of 91.56 to score his runs.

Rohit Sharma and his deputy Shubman Gill evoked a feeling of nostalgia by recreating the heroics of former batting maestros Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar, becoming just the third pair to score a 100-plus opening stand in the final of the Champions Trophy.

In Sunday’s ICC Champions Trophy final against New Zealand in Dubai, the star India batsman Virat Kohli only managed a run, continuing his dismal record in the ICC ODI finals.  Virat has now amassed 138 runs at an average of 27.60 in five games in the ICC ODI finals, with the highest score being 54.
