Benjamin Sleeman took one of the most awe-inspiring catches of all time on Sunday, August 11, during the Bunbury Festival, a charity tournament in England.
Sleeman, who is just 14 years old, plays for Somerset Cricket Club. The county side took their time to post the video of the epic catch on their social media handles. However, since the fans saw the spectacular fielding effort from the teenager, they have not been able to stop praising him. With so much cricket going around in this day and age, there are plenty of excellent catches that are hailed momentarily before inadvertently slipping out of the memories of the fans. However, Sleeman’s effort has all the potential to stand the test of time.

The batter stepped out and hit a leg-spinner back over his head and it seemed that the pleasant-looking shot would yield him a maximum. However, Sleeman, placed at long-on, moved swiftly to his left put in a full-stretch dive and caught the ball with his left hand. The non-striker’s reaction upon seeing the blinder shows exactly how special Sleeman’s effort was. The former had his hands on his head after seeing the piece of brilliance from the young cricketer.

Unfortunately, as it was only a charity match, the scoreboard was not available, and there was not much information available on the batter, bowler, non-striker, or anyone involved in the game. Somerset are currently competing in the England Domestic One-Day Cup 2024.

They are placed at the top of the points table in Group A, having won six and lost two out of their first eight games. The Sean Dickson-led side has an excellent net run rate of +1.228 in the competition. They are also on a three-match winning streak after defeating Northamptonshire, Worcestershire, and Middlesex.
