The Board of Control for Cricket in India had been working on building a new, advanced National Cricket Academy for quite some time, and the wait is finally over. In the latest update, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah took to X, formerly known as Twitter, and shared some recent pictures of a near-ready, newly-built NCA facility, located in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
The newest facility is far, far better than the existing one, also located in Bengaluru, neighbouring the city’s iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. With the burden of managing the current workload of cricketers at the old facility, a bigger and better facility was the need-of-the-hour. Expectedly, the richest cricketing board has finally delivered what was needed.
The new NCA is studded with world-class sporting features including three grounds, forty-five practice pitches, indoor cricket pitches. The new NCA also has an Olympic-sized swimming pool, alongside training, recovery and sports science facilities, which helps the cricketers in rehabilitation and also maintaining their match-readiness ahead of crucial cricketing seasons.

The NCA is currently headed by former India cricketer VVS Laxman, and his term is expiring soon. The veteran cricketer has already stated his disinterest in continuing to hold the position, citing personal and family reasons. As a result, the BCCI’s hunt for a new chief is on the cards.

The board secretary shared how the latest infrastructural development by the BCCI will boost the status of producing quality cricketers. Notably, both current and potential inclusions of the national team will have the access to the NCA.
Shah captioned his X post, “Very excited to announce that the @BCCI’s new National Cricket Academy (NCA) is almost complete and will be opening shortly in Bengaluru. The new NCA will feature three world-class playing grounds, 45 practice pitches, indoor cricket pitches, Olympic-size swimming pool and state-of-the-art training, recovery and sports science facilities. This initiative will help our nation’s current and future cricketers develop their skills in the best possible environment!”
