The final group-stage clash between India and New Zealand at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, March 2, is turning out to be a spectacle for cricket enthusiasts who love to watch electrifying fielding.

In the first innings, Glenn Phillips and Kane Williamson stole the show with their remarkable fielding efforts. Meanwhile, Axar Patel led the way for India in the field in the second innings as he took a spectacular catch to dismiss the dangerous Rachin Ravindra.

After being restricted to a below-par score of 249/9 in their 50 overs, the Men in Blue needed early wickets with the new ball. Ravindra’s wicket was going to be key for India, as he has the ability to take the game away from opposition teams with his wide range of strokes. However, the southpaw couldn’t make much of a difference as he departed for six off 12 balls in the fourth over.

Hardik took the wicket of Ravindra off the final delivery of the over. The Baroda all-rounder bowled a short delivery at 123 kph wide of off-stump. Ravindra slashed at the delivery, and it seemed that the ball would land short of Axar at deep third man. However, the latter reacted quickly as he rushed in and dived forward to take an excellent catch. His elbows hit the ground but he didn’t let the ball pop out of his hands.

Will Young departs as New Zealand lose both openers

Will Young tried to play the waiting game and build a partnership with Kane Williamson after Ravindra’s dismissal. However, his 22-run knock was ended by Varun Chakaravarthy in the 12th over. The right-handed batter tried to dab a flatter delivery, but only managed an inside edge onto his back leg and then onto the stumps.

Williamson has got off to a brisk start, and he has been joined by Daryl Mitchell. Being two of the more experienced players in the line-up, New Zealand will hope for this duo to set them up nicely in the run-chase.
