With the highly-anticipated series between Australia and India just around the corner, there have been an overwhelming magnitude of conversations behind the same. The discussions leading up to the buildup have been backed up by rigorous practice by both the sides. The social media teams of both the cricketing powerhouses have done their bit of taking the emphasis off technical deliberations.

A few of the Australian cricketers from the 13-member squad for the series opener were asked to send in their favourite Indian cricketers, someone they would slot into the Australian lineup in exchange for one of their compatriots. While Scott Boland and Nathan Lyon moved forward with ace Indian batter, Virat Kohli, for varying reasons, Mitchell Marsh opted for Rishabh Pant.

Travis Head picked Rohit Sharma while Boland, on another occasion, proceeded with Jasprit Bumrah. It quite definitely seemed as if all of them had that one player in mind from the opposition whom they really looked up to, and would happily make them a part of the Australian XI.

Nah, no one: Cummins

It was Pat Cummins‘ reply which was probably the funniest. The ‘no one’ retorted by him with the most nonchalant of demeanors, characteristic to his personality, exuded an unparalleled zeal of trust within his set of players.

“Nah, no one,” replied a quietly witty Cummins.

Cummins’ response was not in the slightest degree coming out of a position of over-confidence. It has always been a matter of great prestige for him to lead Australia, and Cummins has been the leader of the pack while administering some high-profile matches against India in the past.

An instance where Cummins let his actions do the talking was when he had descibed that there was no better feeling when it came to silencing a jam-packed Narendra Modi Stadium on the day of the World Cup final during a pre-match press conference the day before the mega event. Him and his team did just that, as Australia went on to overpower an unbeaten India to clinch the 2023 edition of the World Cup in Ahmedabad on November 19, 2023.
