Alex Davies took an awe-inspiring catch to dismiss Joe Root in The Hundred 2024 encounter between Southern Brave and Trent Rockets at The Rose Bowl in Southampton on Saturday, August 10.
The former England Test captain came out to bat at No. 4 after Trent Rockets won the toss and elected to bat first. Root hit a couple of glorious boundaries before being dismissed by Jofra Archer off the 62nd ball of the innings. However, wicketkeeper-batter Davies made the dismissal possible with his quick footwork, excellent agility, and sharp reflexes.
Archer bowled a leg-cutter well outside the off-stump and Root attempted to play a late cut. However, the ball took a healthy outside edge and seemed destined to reach the boundary ropes at third man. Davies, however, had other ideas as he flung himself at full stretch to his right and caught the ball with his right mitt. The ball was dipping on Davies, complicating his task but he was determined to not let the half chance go.
