Ahead of IPL 2023, youngster Riyan Parag on his Twitter handle mentioned that his inner conscience says he will hit four sixes in an over in the 16th edition of the cash-rich league. However, things have not worked out well for the cricketer in reality. In six matches so far, Parag has managed to score only 58 runs at a strike rate of 107.40, and at one point, he was also dropped from the playing XI.
Notably, in Rajasthan Royals’ match against Gujarat Titans on May 5, Parag came out to bat as an impact player but managed to score only four runs off six deliveries. At a time when his team was under tremendous pressure, the cricketer could have proved his value but unfortunately, his poor form continued and with that, no one is quite sure if the cricketer will get enough opportunities in the coming times.
Meanwhile, after the match got over, the Assam-born cricketer took to Twitter to share a cryptic tweet stating that the good times and the bad times eventually pass at one point.
“Waqt acha ho ya bura Guzar he jata hai!” Parag wrote.
GT beat RR by nine wickets
Defending champions Gujarat absolutely hammered Rajasthan in their last match at Sawai Mansingh Stadium. Batting first, the home side struggled to get going right from the start as they posted only 118 runs in the first innings. Skipper Sanju Samson’s 30 was the highest individual score as seven of the RR batters failed to score in double digits. With the ball, spin wizard Rashid Khan once again wreaked havoc, picking up three wickets while youngster Noor Ahmad picked up two.
When it came to the chase, GT openers Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill gave the perfect start possible. Their partnership of 71 runs eventually decided the fate of the game as Hardik Pandya later chipped in with 39* runs off 15 deliveries in order to help GT win the match by nine wickets. With that, they have now solidified their place at the top of the IPL Points Table while Rajasthan are fourth on the list at the moment.
