In a recent ‘This or That’ challenge, former Indian opener Virender Sehwag chose current captain Rohit Sharma over cricketing legends MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli. The challenge, conducted on the sidelines of the Delhi Premier League T20, presented Sehwag with a series of player comparisons. Sehwag’s choices were unexpected yet interesting as a former Dhoni, Kohli, and Rohit teammate.
He initially favored MS Dhoni over Ben Stokes but then chose AB de Villiers over Dhoni. The competition changed when Virat Kohli entered the fray, overtaking De Villiers in Sehwag’s estimation. However, the real surprise came when Sharma was pitted against Kohli, with Sehwag ultimately selecting the India captain.
Rohit’s selection wasn’t a fluke, as Sehwag continued to choose him over formidable opponents like David Warner and Dale Steyn, placing Sharma’s position at the top and ultimately revealing him as the winner of the challenge.

Very proud of how Rohit Sharma has held himself: Virender Sehwag
Sehwag has shared the field with Dhoni during India’s victorious campaigns like the 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ODI World Cup. Rohit was part of the 2007 triumph, while Kohli contributed to the 2011 World Cup victory.
Sharma’s recent accomplishments may have swayed Sehwag’s decision. Under the 37-year-old’s leadership, India clinched their second T20 World Cup title in 2024, with the captain himself finishing as India’s top run-scorer.
“Rohit, the only player who has played all 9 T20 World Cups, have been extremely impressed by the way he had transformed his game into a more attacking one in the last year or so and created a caring atmosphere within the team. It has been much needed and has also brought about results. Very proud of how you have held yourself and wish you the best in the times ahead,” Sehwag tweeted earlier.
