After getting smashed for five sixes against Rinku Singh in IPL 2023, Yash Dayal faced tremendous backlash and was even dropped from the playing XI. Later, Gujarat Titans even released him despite him having tremendous potential. In the auction, Royal Challengers Bengaluru picked up and for the same reason, the franchise was trolled at one point but their investment proved fruitful as Dayal picked up 15 wickets in 14 matches and helped RCB qualify for the playoffs.
Notably, the transition from Gujarat to Bengaluru hasn’t been easy for Dayal. He was subjected to criticism for the entire year and there was doubt if any franchise would pick him for IPL 2024. However, RCB kept faith in Dayal, which helped him script a remarkable comeback. Speaking about that, Dayal mentioned that star batter Virat Kohli welcomed him into the squad and stated that he will never feel like an outsider.
“The biggest thing he (Kohli) said to me was that they would back me for the entire season and I will not feel as an outsider in the team. They backed me wholeheartedly in the entire season that was a booster for me. He interacts with youngsters in the same way like others and What people talk on TV about him I didn’t feel that with him,” Dayal said while talking to SportsTak.
