Former Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram feels that India batters Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul are great players and know how to make adjustments in their game. Akram’s comments came ahead of the third ODI between India and Australia on March 22 in Chennai.
India lost to Australia in the second ODI by 10 wickets at the Dr. Y.S.Rajashekar Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Vishakapatnam. The visitors registered the victory with the help of Starc’s five-wicket haul and the top knocks from openers Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head to level the series. The third and final ODI will be played on March 22 in Chennai.
“Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul; all these guys are great players. Rahul won the last match for India. It’s not just them who get trapped to the left-armer’s angle, others fall too, especially when the ball comes in. And the pitch on which the match was played, I felt as if I was watching the game in Australia,” Akram was quoted by Hindustan Times.
Mitchell Starc is one of the best in the world: Wasim Akram
Akram went on to say that the series is shaping up nicely at 1-1. He also said that the ball was seaming both ways during the match in Vishakapatnam and the game belonged to the bowlers. He also praised Australia bowler Mitchell Starc for his brilliant fifer.
“It was a small match, Australia played well. The series is shaping up nicely at 1-1. But I supposed that the ball was seaming on that wicket. Although Australia scored those runs quickly, I saw a couple of overs from Siraj, the ball was seaming both ways,” Akram added.
“There are days that belong to the bowlers as well; congratulations to Mitchell Starc for bowling so well, snuffing out three wickets at the top and then take two more wickets. There is no doubt that he is a great bowler, one of the best in the world. So it was his day,” said Akram.
