Ace India batter Virat Kohli is undoubtedly one of the greatest batters of the generation. Over the course of his career, Kohli has often drawn comparisons to the great Sachin Tendulkar. Over the years, many have even gone on to debate who is the better batter between Kohli and Tendulkar.
Kohli seems to have been chasing the record of 100 career centuries all his life. However, it seems like Kohli is set to add another feather to his cap. With 26,942 runs scored across formats, Kohli is edging closer to the 27,000-run mark. It is worth noting that the star batter has played 591 innings throughout his career, and Tendulkar is the fastest batter to reach the 27,000-run mark.
Interestingly, Tendulkar took 623 innings (226 Test innings, 396 ODI innings, 1 T20I innings) to score 27,000 runs, and if Kohli managed to score 58 runs in his next eight innings, he will be the fastest batter to reach the milestone, and he will become the only player in the last 147-year history of international cricket to reach the mark in 600 innings.

The likes of Kumar Sangakkara and Ricky Ponting are the only other batters to score 27,000 runs in their careers. It is worth noting that India is all set to take on Bangladesh in a multi-format series soon.
Both sides will lock horns across two Test matches, with the first one being held in Chennai on September 19. If Kohli manages to score 58 runs in the next two Tests, he will have broken Tendulkar’s record and will add another excellent record to his seemingly endless list. After the first Test in Chennai, both India and Bangladesh will take on each other in the second Test in Kanpur. The series will end with three T20Is being played between both sides.
