Star India batter Virat Kohli looked to be in top form in the training nets at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai ahead of the first Test against Bangladesh. India is set to take on Bangladesh in a two-game Test series starting from September 19.
In a video that has been going viral, Virat Kohli was seen batting in the nets, and the clip also detailed India’s Day 2 at the Chennai camp. It specifically mentioned a six that Kohli hit, which broke the wall of the stadium.
Later, Kohli was also seen having a chat with India’s head coach, Gautam Gambhir. Both shared a conversation about Kohli’s batting after the practice session.
Kohli aiming to make history
It could be a very special series for Virat Kohli. It is worth noting that both India and Bangladesh will face off in Chennai from September 19, and the second Test will be held in Kanpur from October 27.
It could be very special for Kohli, as the ace batter has scored 26,942 runs across formats. He is edging closer to the 27,000-run format, and he is set to become the fastest batter to achieve the feat and break the record of Sachin Tendulkar.
It is worth noting that it took 623 innings to score 27,000 runs, whereas Kohli has played 591 innings and is just 58 runs away from the record. If Kohli scores 58 runs in his next eight innings, he will become the fastest batter in the last 147-year history of international cricket to reach the mark in 600 innings.
Furthermore, the Indian team is all set to reach their third straight WTC final; the side sits atop the WTC standings with six wins and two losses in nine Tests. On the other hand, Bangladesh sits in fourth place in the standings after their recent two-Test win against Pakistan.
