Kevin Pietersen returned home from India with treasured memories and a very special gift from Team India’s batting stalwart and former captain, Virat Kohli. The former England great, who was in charge of broadcasting duties during England’s white-ball tour in India, shared a heartfelt moment including his son, Dylan.

Posting on social media, Pietersen shared a heartfelt picture of Dylan wearing a limited-overs Indian jersey signed by Kohli. With acknowledgement, he informed his fans how ecstatic his son was after receiving Kohli’s special jersey. Moreover, he also mentioned how it fitted in terms of size to perfection just like cricket gloves for a batter.

“Got home and gave @dylanpietersenphotography a gift from @virat.kohli and it goes straight on! Fits like a glove. Thanks, buddy!” Pietersen wrote on his Instagram handle.

However, England’s tour of India was quite a memory to take back in terms of the game and performance. The Jos Buttler-led side, losing seven out of eight white-ball matches, suffered a dismal run. They were whitewashed 0-3 in the ODIs and lost the T20I series 1-4, a true sign of concern ahead of the upcoming Champions Trophy.

‘If England didn’t train, then they didn’t try’ –  Kevin Pietersen slams England after defeat

Notably, Kevin Pietersen, who was on the commentary panel, didn’t hold back his critique of England’s formation—or lack thereof. His resentment was cited by Ravi Shastri, who while on air, pointed out that England did not train or prepare enough. The former legendary English batter later tweeted to blast the team for their carefree demeanour. Besides, he also mentioned Joe Root as the one player to have a net session post-Nagpur game, he raised questions on the team’s commitment towards the game.

“I’m sorry, but I am absolutely gobsmacked that England did not have ONE team practice session since losing the 1st ODI and losing the T20 series. How can this be? Seriously, how?” Pietersen wrote on his ‘X’ handle.

“There isn’t a single sportsman on this planet who can honestly say they’d improve without practicing while getting beaten. If England didn’t train, then they didn’t try. Losing is fine if you’re giving your best. But this? This is heartbreaking for any England fan,” he further added.

England now face serious contemplation as they gear up for their upcoming Champions Trophy and will regroup in the UAE, before facing Australia in their opening match.
