USA, Netherlands, Scotland bag three spots for 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier

The Netherlands, USA, and Scotland have officially confirmed their spots for the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier after making massive gains in their respective regions. Notably, eight of the 10 spots have been booked, whereas the final two spots will be decided from the Africa Qualifier in December.

USA claimed the solitary spot in the Americas region following a comfortable win against Canada by 30 runs at the Woodley Cricket Complex in Los Angeles. Isani Vaghela claimed a magnificent four-wicket haul for just 16 runs in her four overs at an economy of 4.00, concluding the tournament with as many as 15 wickets in her account. 

On the other hand, Disha Dhingra top scored for her side with 58 off 50 balls, which included six boundaries, and was adjudged player of the match in the USA’s win. Speaking of the Europe region Qualifier, the Netherlands Women outrightly dominated Italy to win by six wickets in a low-scoring affair to book their spot in the T20 World Cup Global Qualifier. 

Scotland Women too asserted their dominance against France, as they beat the latter by a mammoth 155 runs. The Kathryn Bryce-led side posted a humongous 204 runs in their 20 overs and further restricted France to a paltry 49 runs to cement their spot in the Global Qualifier.

Scotland topped the table with 10 points at a Net Run Rate (NRR) of 3.777, whereas the Netherlands concluded their campaign in second place with 10 points and an NRR of 2.377. France lost all of their six matches whereas Italy earned four points courtesy of two wins.

Earlier, Vanuatu etched their names in history as claimed the solitary spot from the East Asia-Pacific Qualifier. Meanwhile, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates, and Thailand booked their tickets to the qualifier following solid wins in the Asia Qualifier region. Ireland and Sri Lanka are among the other teams that will feature in the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier.
