The 26-year-old was reported by the match officials following his side’s ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier match against West Indies on Sunday 18 June 2023.
The Event Panel reviewed match footage of Phillip’s bowling action and concluded that he employs an illegal bowling action and as such, in accordance with Article 6.7 of the regulations, he is suspended from bowling in international cricket.
Phillip’s suspension shall remain in place until he submits to a reassessment of his bowling action which concludes that his bowling action is legal.
Phillip, who was a member of the USA team competing in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier tournament in Zimbabwe, got the competition off to a strong start by taking three wickets against the West Indies in their first match.
The United States have lost their first three games in the Cricket World Cup Qualifier event, and after falling to the Netherlands by five wickets in Harare on Thursday, they are currently last in Group A, heading into their last group encounter against Zimbabwe on Monday.
