Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) has decided to build a new international cricket stadium in Noida. As per reports, the Noida authority wanted to build a stadium for over two decades and now UPCA has finally given the green light. As things stand, the work will soon begin after the governing body in Noida approves the layout plan, which is already in process.

It is reported that the stadium will be built at Sector 150, along the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway. It is located on the outskirt of the city but the transportation is really good, especially with the metro service available. Notably, after the completion of the project, the stadium will also be eligible to host Indian Premier League (IPL) matches.

As reported, UPCA passed this proposal on March 17, 2023. Other than having a world-class cricket stadium, Noida authority will also develop a golf course, tennis courts, and other such sports facilities in the same area. Meanwhile, the new stadium will adhere to all ICC’s rules and directives and it may take up to three years to complete the work.

“The consortium of developers from Noida had submitted a proposal willing to develop an international cricket stadium in sector 150. Subsequently, our committee has approved the proposal stating that the facility should be as per the norms of the International cricket control board specifications.”

“Once developed, Noida will be able to all kinds of international cricket matches. After Kanpur and Lucknow, Varanasi will be the third UP city to have an international stadium as we have just acquired the land for the same. After that, we have approved the Noida project and Ghaziabad may also have one of the land parcel will be made available,” UPCA CEO Ankit Mukherjee was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

Meanwhile, the diameter of the new stadium will be 137.6 meters. As per UPCA, the new stadium will have a seating capacity of 40,000 people and will be UP’s fourth stadium after Lucknow, Kanpur, and Varanasi.
