Unseen clip showing dejected Virat Kohli’s reaction after WC 2023 final loss goes viral

The year 2023 will always be remembered for India’s dominant campaign in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. The Rohit Sharma-led side was in imperious form in the tournament as they won ten matches on the trot and hammered all the teams in the league stages. However, the Men in Blue fell short in the final of the event as they lost against Australia by six wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and missed a golden chance to end their ten-year-long ICC trophy drought.

Recently, a short clip from the World Cup final has been going viral on social media where the jubilant Australian players are seen in a huddle celebrating their sixth World Cup title. However, right behind them is the star India batter Virat Kohli who can be seen completely dejected with India’s loss and taking his frustration out by whipping the bails with his cap. The clip has been garnering many views on social media rubbing salt into the wounds of the World Cup loss.

Notably, Kohli had a remarkable run in the World Cup as he scored three hundreds and six fifties from 11 innings. The 35-year-old also entered record books as he first levelled Sachin Tendulkar’s record for most ODI hundreds (49) during Match 37 of the tournament against South Africa at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Later, he even surpassed his feat with a magnificent knock of 117 (113) against New Zealand during the first semi-final at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

The Delhi-born batter was also adjudged the Player of the Tournament for scoring the most runs ever in a single edition of the World Cup (765 runs) from 11 innings at an average of 95.62 and a strike rate of 90.31. However, despite all his achievements, the star batter failed to be on the winning side as Australian captain Pat Cummins removed him for 54 (63) in the final which turned out to be the turning point of the match.
