The Ashes, over the years, has seen many battles happen on the pitch. However, there are very few, like the battle between Australian batter David Warner and English pacer Stuart Broad. Both players have faced each other in several situations, and it is safe to say Broad has dominated the proceedings.

The English pacer is consistently able to dismiss David Warner in Test cricket. Notably, Broad has dismissed Warner 17 times in the longest format, which is the most amongst bowlers against any batter in active cricketers.

Ahead of the fourth Ashes Test in Manchester, fans will be keen on seeing whether Broad will once again make an impact and send Warner packing or will the Australian opener retaliate. Reflecting on the same, Broad recently came forward to talk about how he has been able to dominate Warner over the years in Test cricket.

The truth is I’ve always found it difficult bowling to Davey: Broad

“The truth is I’ve always found it difficult bowling to Davey, and I still do. By going round the wicket I’ve tried to minimise the width he loves outside off stump but also bowl a fuller length and make him play at 80 to 85 per cent of deliveries,” Broad wrote in his column at the Daily Mail.

“He used to sit back against me and hit me through the off side, and before the 2015 Ashes, our bowling coach Ottis Gibson pointed out that my average was much higher against left-handers, the Aussie team that season was full of lefties, and Ottis said I’d be out of the team if I didn’t find a way to bowl to them,” he added.

England made a sensational comeback in the Ashes 2023 after losing the first two Tests of the marquee series as the Ben Stokes-led side showed just what they are made of and registered a brilliant win at Headingley. With the fourth Test set to begin on July 19 at Old Trafford, England will be keen on registering yet another win to level the score.
