Tried to copy some of Suryakumar Yadav’s shots but could not replicate them, they are very difficult to execute: Nehal Wadhera

Following the comprehensive victory against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Mumbai Indians (MI) batter Nehal Wadhera revealed that he attempted to play exquisite shots like teammate Suryakumar Yadav. Notably, Rohit Sharma and Co. blew away the visiting team at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai as they scripted a third successful 200-plus chase to clinch the two points.

Though Suryakumar Yadav’s masterclass of 35-ball 83 grabbed the headlines, young Nehal Wadhera too carved out an instrumental knock which helped Mumbai secure the win. The young sensation slammed an unbeaten 34-ball 52 which included three sixes and four boundaries and raised a 140-run stand with Suryakumar. Playing quite a few exquisite shots himself, much like his teammate, Wadhera expressed his delight on batting with Suryakumar following the win.

“Yeah, batting with Surya bhai is so much fun. I tried to copy some of his shots but cannot replicate them because those are very difficult to execute. Surya bhai is a great partner to bat with. He just said to me that if we both keep going, we can pull this off way too early,” Wadhera told in the post-match presser.

“I tried to play the scoop in my previous game against Chennai Super Kings. These are the ones which I am not used to playing earlier in my career. I have learnt these from Surya bhai,” Wadhera concluded his interaction after the game,” he added.

Was fun batting up the order: Wadhera

Since the last outing against CSK, the MI think tank decided to promote Wadhera up the order and the move seemed to have paid dividends. The 22-year-old scored a well-built 64 off 51 against Chennai and followed it with another fifty against Bangalore, upon which he stated that he relished batting in his new role.

“It was fun batting up in the order. Earlier I was batting down the order. I got an opportunity to bat and scored back-to-back fifties, I am happy with that. But more happier with the team’s performance and the result of the match,” expressed Wadhera.

“We have played a couple of games here at Wankhede and chased comfortably these 200 totals. Again, we did it. I had the confidence in me to do the job for my team and I am really happy with the way I finished the game,” he concluded.
