Travis Head to play for Adelaide Strikers in BBL 14

Big Bash League (BBL) franchise Adelaide Strikers recently came forward and announced that the world’s no. 1 T20 batter, Australia’s Travis Head, has re-signed with them ahead of the BBL 14. This will be his 13th straight season with Strikers, and Head has extended his contract by another year.

It is worth noting that the Australian opener solidified himself as the world’s number 1 T20 batter recently from the tour to the UK, but it is worth noting that Head will not be available until the latter stages of the regular season due to Test assignments with Australia.

With Australia gearing up for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Head’s availability for Strikers could be subject to his workload for Australia in the five-game series. Interestingly, Strikers are set to play three regular season matches after the BGT 2024-25.

The Test players’ availability on the BBL in the knockout stages of the tournament is currently unclear, as Australia is set to tour Sri Lanka for a two-Test series in February.

I’m thrilled to sign up for another year: Head

After the announcement of Head re-signing with Strikers, the star batter took center stage and highlighted how excited he was to represent the side for another season. He also expressed how he was looking forward to working with head coach Tim Paine.

“I’m thrilled to sign for another year with the Strikers and can’t wait to get back amongst the group under our new coach, Tim Paine. I love pulling on the blue every chance I get and look forward to helping the boys go one step further after their fantastic late-season run to the finals last summer,” Head was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au.

Adelaide Strikers squad for BBL:

Fabian Allen (West Indies), James Bazley, Cameron Boyce, Jordan Buckingham, Alex Carey, Brendan Doggett, Travis Head, Thomas Kelly, Chris Lynn, Harry Nielsen, Jamie Overton (England), Lloyd Pope, Ollie Pope (England), Alex Ross, D’Arcy Short, Matt Short, Henry Thornton, and Jake Weatherald.
