Former star Indian batter and head coach, Rahul Dravid, finds himself in the third position in the list of highest-Test runs against Bangladesh. From 2000 to 2010, he played seven Tests against them, scoring 560 runs in 10 innings at an average of 70.00 and strike rate of 59.44.

His highest score of 160 came in 2004 in Chattogram, where he partnered with Gautam Gambhir for a 259-run stand, the second-highest partnership against Bangladesh in Tests. This inning, featuring 24 boundaries, helped India win by an innings and 83 runs. Notably, this century made Dravid the first player to score hundreds in all ten Test-playing nations at the time. Throughout his career, Dravid scored three centuries and one half-century against the neighbours.

2. Mushfiqur Rahim (604 runs)

Bangladesh’s veteran wicketkeeper-batter and former captain, Mushfiqur Rahim, is the only Bangladeshi on this list and the only active player. Interestingly, he is set to tour India in the upcoming series starting September 19. In eight Tests against India (15 innings), the 37-year-old has scored 604 runs at an average of 43.14, including two centuries and two half-centuries.

His highest score of 127 came in the 2017 series’ only Test in Hyderabad, where India scored 687 runs. Despite Rahim’s effort, the tourists lost on day five. Rahim has also scored the most runs by a Bangladeshi in India, with 331 runs in 6 innings. He has also hit the most centuries (2), and most 50+ scores (4) for his side against the mighty neighbours.

1. Sachin Tendulkar (820 runs)

The veteran cricketer’s record includes five centuries against Bangladesh, part of his total 51 Test hundreds.

The Mumbai-born’s career-best Test score of 248* came against Bangladesh in Dhaka, in December 2004, a knock that is still his highest score in red-ball cricket. This marathon inning lasted 552 minutes and featured 35 boundaries. It also equalled Sunil Gavaskar’s record of 34 Test centuries. During this match, Tendulkar formed a record 133-run stand for the 10th wicket with Zaheer Khan. His batting average of 136.67 against the Bengal Tigers stands as his best against any Test-playing nation.
