The likes of Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer earn more than 20 crore from the tournament. It is worth noting that in India, the tax system is quite progressive, which means that players with higher income have to pay more tax.

Rahul has well established himself as one of the biggest batters in India cricket in recent times. It is worth noting that KL Rahul has reportedly paid INR 5 crore tax in the year 2023-24 as per DNA India. Furthermore, his net worth is also estimated to be around INR 70 crore. 

It is interesting to note that KL Rahul is a core player for the Indian team, as his contract from the BCCI is quite substantial as well. He also manages to earn a lot from the IPL, as he was recently signed by Delhi Capitals ahead of the IPL 2025 for a whopping INR 14 crore.

Former India cricketer Shikhar Dhawan occupies ninth place in the list of cricketers who have paid the most tax in 2024. According to DNA, Shikhar Dhawan has paid INR 6 crore in total tax in 2024. His estimated net worth is around INR 80 crore.

It was a roller coaster of a year for Shikhar Dhawan. The veteran batter announced his retirement from the sport; however, despite leaving international cricket behind, Dhawan still has several endorsements to his name and is a huge earner in the Indian cricketing scene.

The star bowler sits in eighth place in the list, and according to the DNA, he has paid INR 7 crore in taxes in the year 2024 and has well established himself as one of the biggest cricketers in the country as well.

Being retained by Mumbai Indians and leading the Indian team in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, Bumrah has had a brilliant 2024, not just professionally, but financially as well.

7. Ajinkya Rahane

Veteran India batter Ajinkya Rahane is another name on the list; the 36-year-old has paid the seventh-most tax among Indian cricketers in 2024. According to DNA, Rahane has paid INR 8 crore in taxes throughout the year and has surpassed the likes of Rahul, Dhawan, and Bumrah.

Despite not having played for the Indian team in months, Rahane continues to perform in domestic cricket and the IPL. Furthermore, he continues to be a big name in the cricket scene, which attracts a plethora of endorsements to him.

A reasonably high amount, 2024 has been the year where Pant made his comeback from injury after being a part of the life-threatening car accident in late 2022. 

In the IPL 2025 mega auction, Pant was sold at a price of INR 27 crore to Lucknow Super Giants, making him the costliest player in the tournament’s 18-year-old history. Pant has been an integral part of the Indian in the last few years, and he is quite high in the taxpayers’ list as well.
