Earlier in August this year, the incumbent Cricket Australia Chief Nick Hockley announced that his tenure would be ending in March 2025. Hockley’s journey as ‘Chief of CA’ will end after several highs and lows during his five-year stint. It included controversies, success, a split with former head coach Justin Langer and a lot more.

Hockley was appointed full-time CA chief in May 2021 after his crucial role in executing a successful Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21 against India amidst COVID restrictions. In the further series of events, the ‘Tim Paine Scandal’ episode, transition to the Pat Cummins era, and a few major turnarounds were a part of Cricket Australia’s ‘Hockley-Era’.

Meanwhile, Cricket Australia has a sharp eye on the potential successors of Nick Hockley as CA Chief. Three big names in the Cricket Australia administration are in the run to become the next CA chief succeeding Nick Hockley.

“As of now, the three names, who are primarily in contention for the post of CA chief are Todd Greenberg [CEO of the Australian Cricketer’s Association], Alistair Dobson [Head of BBL], and James Allsopp [Chief of Cricket, Cricket Australia],” a source in the know of developments confirmed to CricTracker on the condition of anonymity.

Chief of ACA, Todd Greenberg expected to be the frontrunner

The source also understands that Todd Greenberg, CEO of the Australian Cricketer’s Association is likely a frontrunner in this race. However, it is yet to be seen if he expresses his interest in this responsibility. Before starting his journey with Cricket Australia, Greenberg had enjoyed a successful stint as the CEO of the National Rugby League (NRL).

Besides Greenberg’s strong contention, Alistair Dobson’s stint as Head of BBL has witnessed significant growth in the tournament’s Indian viewership. He is one of the three contenders in this race for the position of Cricket Australia’s Chief.

Apart from Dobson and Greenberg, James Allsopp is also expected to be considered in contention. Allsopp was appointed as the ‘Chief of Cricket’, the newly-created role by Cricket Australia earlier this year.
